Fire House Family Chili Cook-off Wants Your Healthy Recipes
All Children’s Hospital, Kohl’s Cooks for Kids, Radio Disney and St. Pete Fire & Rescue, Fossil Park Station are stirring up some fun and challenging families to come out and show off their culinary skills at the Fire House Family Chili Cook-off. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th at the Fossil Park Fire Station, 6975 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, St. Petersburg.
The Fire House Family Chili Cook-off is part of a very special community program known as Kohl’s Cooks for Kids. For the past 4 years, a grant from Kohl’s has been supporting the efforts at All Children’s to help families learn about nutrition and preparing healthy meals. Under the Kohl’s grant All Children’s offers fun and interactive classes and events that encourage children to make healthy choices and teaches them basic culinary skills so they can assist the family in making tasty and healthy recipes.
Up to 20 families will have the opportunity to participate in this yummy activity to compete for top chili recipe prizes including, $150.00, $100.00, and $75.00 to Publix as well as the top recipe with the kids for a $75.00 gift card to Toys R Us. Families who don’t want to compete are encouraged to come and taste the healthy chili recipes and cheer on the young chefs; as well as get up close and personal with the fire and rescue trucks, enjoy bounce houses, face painting, k-9 demos, Truck Farm Tampa and a special Bayflight landing demo at the Block Party event.
The event is designed for children who are in grades 1st thru 6th plus one adult to assist with the all kitchen duties.
