Tampa Fit Kids Food Revolution…Are you with us!?

1 Comment Uncategorized

“Imagine a world where children were fed tasty and nutritious, real food at school from the age of 4 to 18. A world where every child was educated about how amazing food is, where it comes from, how it affects the body and how it can save their lives”. – Jamie Oliver

After watching his first show, Food Revolution, we were so inspired to REALLY GET INVOLVED with Jamie and his mission! We believed in everything he preached and felt we could help make a difference here in Tampa.

Fit Kids Playground is proud to represent with Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution in Tampa, Florida. As a voluntary Ambassador in Tampa Bay, we work in our community to fight for real food every day. We are working hard to make change actually happen!

We love to talk about REAL FOOD (#realfood) and FIT KIDS (#fitkids) so please join in the conversations with us on our social networks @FitKidsTampa.

Each month, the Ambassadors are issued challenges to get our community thinking in a different way about real change! We plan to use these challenges to get more of Tampa involved with Fit Kids Playground and the projects we support in our community! We also want to be helpful to others and hope to help you work in your community, organization or school to get things off the ground! We have a network of people, organizations, and local businesses that are trying to do the same thing and we hope to be able to connect more of you with programs that you might not have known existed!

Truck Farm Tampa

This month we would like to highlight our partnership with Truck Farm Tampa! Truck Farm is associated with Food Revolution as a way to get more people thinking about where REAL FOOD comes from! The documentary is about where food comes from and how one can grow something in anything! (If you are interested in an educational screening at your school, please contact us via our contact page.) We can’t wait to bring the Food Revolution to your school through Truck Farm Tampa! There are only 25 fleet trucks and Tampa Bay is one of them! We are looking for schools to visit in 2013 thanks to a sponsorship from Chipotle Mexican Grill!

Truck Farm Tampa is currently looking for schools that would enjoy a visit from the Truck Farm! We bring a variety of activities and would love to opportunity to inspire kids and adults about real food and how easy it is to grow!

What are you doing?

This month we would like to hear more about what your school is doing to make a difference? Have you started a wellness committee? Is there someone spear heading a wellness program that is offered to parents? Have you started a garden?

Please write in to us, talk with us on Facebook or Twitter, so we can learn about what you are doing and how we might be able to help keep that momentum going. We want to support you with the Food Revolution community!

For more information or tool kits to help get you started, visit the official Food Revolution site!

Truck Farm Tampa appears on Daytime TV

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Wait! It’s Truck Farm? What? A garden in a truck? Yup! Truck Farm Tampa is back in action for 2013 because of Chipotle Mexican Grill and its 2013 sponsorship of the Tampa fleet. Truck Farm Tampa is owned and operated by Fit Kids Playground founder, Marisa Langford.

Truck Farm Tampa was featured on Daytime TV on Jaunary 8, 2013. Thrilled to share our story with a national audience, we wanted to show how easy it really is to grow something in anything! We featured the “crazy garden” activity and a farm to table salsa (recipe from Chipotle Mexican Grill). “We were excited to announce our 2013 Chipotle Truck Farm Tampa Tour to the Tampa Bay area!” said Marisa Langford, owner of Truck Farm Tampa and founder of Fit Kids Playground. “We now have a block of free classes that we can offer to local schools and community events to demonstrate our mission, the simple fact that one can grow anything anywhere as long as you have sun, soil, water air!”

The 2013 Chipotle Truck Farm Tampa Tour was first featured in the Tampa Tribune’s ‘Business & Money’ section on Sunday, December 16, 2012.

If you are interested in more information on a visit Truck Farm Tampa or Fit Kids Playground, please use the contact form to reach Marisa Langford directly.
